The Flag of Far Far Away
Yet, Freedom! Yet the banner, torn, but flying, streams like the thunderstorm against the wind! (G.G. Lord Byron) Traditionally, the colors and shapes on a flag all stand for something important or significant to a country. The same goes for the national flag of Far Far Away. The colors were not just randomly chosen pretty colors or shapes, but because they stood for something important to Far Far Away. The flag is made up of many colors and shapes, so it has a lot of symbolism to it. This flag is a very strong addition to Far Far Away, and it stands for everything the people find important.
All the colors on a flag are very significant. For example, black generally represents determination, and/or the defeat of one’s enemies (Enchanted Learning). Red could stand for courage, or the bloodshed for a country (Enchanted Learning). Blue is often a sign of freedom or justice and patriotism (Enchanted Learning). White is peace and purity and sometimes innocence (Enchanted Learning). Green can stand for the Earth, or agriculture and fertility, and Yellow often stands for wealth (Enchanted Learning). The national flag of Far Far Away contains most of these colors.
The colors black, red, green, white, and blue are in the national flag. The colors each stand for something important, and they are good colors. They are all included to show what Far Far Away stands for. Almost half of the flag is blue, to show that Far Far Away is a very free country. Part of it is red to signify not necessarily that blood has been shed, but that the people are willing to shed their blood to protect their country. Black is to show the determination, Green is to show that the people work hard to keep their land healthy and fertile while they farm, and white is to show that Far Far Away is pure and want to be in peace with other countries.
The shapes are different on every flag in the world. There isn’t really a certain meaning to any of the shapes included on flags, because they are all different and unique the country. For instance, the fifty stars on the United States flag stand for each one of the states, but the stars on the flag of China represent the communist leader in the largest star, and the four social classes of people that follow him in the smallest stars (Chinaorbit.com). So there is really no exact meaning for any certain symbols, they just represent what the country chooses them to represent. The flag of Far Far away has one big star that has five points. Each point stands for one of the states of the country.
The flag is a very strong symbol of Far Far Away. With nothing but a few scraps of fabric, it tells a person everything there is to know about the country. The colors and symbols for the national flag of Far Far Away were not chosen because they were pretty, but because they stand for what is important. Far Far Away is a strong, determined, hardworking, pure, and free country.

About the Coat of Arms
“Every poem is a coat of arms. It must be deciphered. How much blood, how many tears in exchange for these axes, these muzzles, these unicorns, these torches, these towers, these martlets, these seedlings of stars and these fields of blue!” ― Jean Cocteau
The coat of arms for Far Far Away is very easy to decipher. The pictures put into it all stand for something significant to the country, and one can easily tell what they are. The coat of arms was influenced by a few examples of the coat of arms of other countries. Like the United Kingdom, for instance, has a unicorn, and unicorns are awesome. Far Far Away is an agricultural country, being close to the ocean, but with plenty of farm land. The country also relies on animals very much, for work and for food. The coat of arms is very strong portrayal of Far Far Away.
When the creation of this coat of arms stared, many other countries were used as references. The coat of arms of the United Kingdom was really cool. It had unicorns, and was very artistic. Because unicorns are so beautiful and mystical, in this coat of arms, the unicorn stands for a free spirit, and also it stands for the fairytale creatures in Far Far away, because yes, there are actually fairytale creatures. That is what makes the country so special. Except the ogres of course, they are a dangerous threat to man-kind. Therefore, the unicorn is a very strong depiction of the country.
The land forms in the picture, for instance the mountains and the sun, are exactly what they are meant to be. The country is a mountainous island, therefore the mountains stand for those that exist on Far Far away. The sun is a sun to stand for peace and warmth and the hope of a healthy crop for the season.
The plants and the fish in the image are to stand for the agriculture of Far Far Away. Being an island surrounded on all four sides by water, the ocean is an obvious bet for a money-making industry. Fishermen work the waters as their way of life, in the same way the farmers work the land as their way of life. Of the land on the island, fifty percent of it is great for farming. Far Far Away has a rich crop industry that has many different varieties varying across the island. This is made possible by the different types of weather, from tropical in some regions to temperate in other regions.
Lastly, a set of horse shoe tracks is included. These tracks are to symbolize the use of horses and other animals by the people. Horses are a big part of the industry, because it is a traditional country and the use of animals is preferred over some machinery. The work of animals is preferred mainly because big machines are hard to get to the island, and even more difficult to use on some of the rockier and steeper terrains. Almost every family has a small or large amount of farm animals, and they all have a close bond with them, like their family. So these tracks represent the bond between the Far Far Away people and their animals.
Overall, with the different pictures symbolizing everything that is important to Far Far Away, the coat of arms is a successful representation. It explains the fairytale factor in the unicorn, and the importance of animals to the people. It shows the agriculture and important industries that help the country be successful, and it gives examples of the beautiful landscapes. This coat of arms is a very accurate and significant portrayal.
